This session will be livestreamed from our Adelaide professional development day on Saturday 29/03/25, and will be available on our Educator Portal after the PD day. This item is a ticket to an ONLINE professional development session only, NOT to the in-person session in Adelaide. For a ticket to the in person session, please see the “In Person Training” section of our shop.

In this fun one-hour workshop, Family Day Care professionals will engage in theatresport-style games to practice their improvisational skills and enhance their ability to participate in imaginative play with children. We'll begin by exploring why it can be challenging for adults to engage in imaginative play with children, the developmental importance of imaginative play, and how well-incorporated imaginative play can be key in helping Educators meet goals around intentional teaching, incorporating diverse perspectives, and truly listening to children's voices. Following this brief introduction, participants will break into teams to practice letting go of self-consciousness and expanding their toolkit of improvisational skills, while learning the one key rule of improv: always say "yes, and..."!

This session will run from 2:00pm-3:00pm Adelaide time (2:30pm-3:30pm Melbourne time). Zoom details will be distributed via email prior to the professional development day. Certificates will be emailed to all participants at the conclusion of the session. This session will be presented by Laura Hewitson, FFDC Administrator Extraordinaire/Field Coordinator, former theatre kid, and Bluey lover.

Please note: these sessions will be recorded for our Educator portal, so our Educators can reference and review these sessions in the future.
