This session will be held at FFDC’s Adelaide office, 35a Whitmore Square, Adelaide. This item is a ticket to an IN PERSON professional development session only. For a ticket to the Zoom session, please see the “Online Training” section of our shop.
In this fun one-hour workshop, Family Day Care professionals will engage in theatresport-style games to practice their improvisational skills and enhance their ability to participate in imaginative play with children. We'll begin by exploring why it can be challenging for adults to engage in imaginative play with children, the developmental importance of imaginative play, and how well-incorporated imaginative play can be key in helping Educators meet goals around intentional teaching, incorporating diverse perspectives, and truly listening to children's voices. Following this brief introduction, participants will break into teams to practice letting go of self-consciousness and expanding their toolkit of improvisational skills, while learning the one key rule of improv: always say "yes, and..."!
This session will run from 2:00pm to 3:00pm Adelaide time. Please arrive early so we can start promptly. Morning tea will be provided. Please alert us to any dietary requirements with your purchase. For lunch, please bring a small plate to share with a list of ingredients for those with allergies (BYO afternoon tea if attending session 3). Certificates will be provided to all participants at the conclusion of the session. This session will be presented by Laura Hewitson, FFDC Administrator Extraordinaire/Field Coordinator, former theatre kid, and Bluey lover.
Please note: these sessions will be recorded for our Educator portal, so our Educators can reference and review these sessions in the future.
